With less than a week to go until we make the move to Port Isabel my stomach is getting knots. I've never really had this feeling before. Just thinking about all the things I have to do and learn makes my head spin. But it also makes me excited.
After telling many people about what I am about to do there seems to be a unanimous view on it.
"You are crazy."
This confuses me. Didn't all people grow up wanting to travel the world? How can you say I'm crazy for following a dream that is extremely do-able? How can you say that it is a waste of time to do what you love? And to do what you love on a grand scale!
I think it's crazy to settle down and start a family at an early age. I think it is insane to be content with a job that "pays the bills". You have said, "You are wasting your time" and, "You need to think of the future. Think of YOUR future."
My question is; How is settling down into a state of repetition and monotony better than risking it all for a grand adventure? How is it that you can justify your claims of the working class being so much better than that of an explorer?
In the words of my dad, "Opinions are like assholes, everybody has one." Even though it may seem to bother me, I really enjoy hearing the opposing views.
